Ep. 3: IVF, Hair Loss, and Acne: What Stem Cell Therapy Is Actually Helping
Can Stem Cell Therapy Help IVF, Hair Loss, and Acne?
A Realistic Perspective
Stem cells get talked about like a cure-all. Fertility. Hair loss. Skin. Joints. Everything blurred together. That confusion leaves people guessing what is real and what is noise.
In this episode, Dr. Yi Song draws clean lines. What stem cells actually help. Where they make sense. Where they do not. Not theory. Clinical experience. Real cases.
Different Ages, Different Needs
Stem cell therapy does not look the same for everyone. Age matters. Tissue matters. The goal matters.
“The successful treatment story would be a lot of a joint issues related to aging, osteoarthritis. For people like you, younger women are more like a facial treatment, acne scars and TMJ.”
Hair Loss Is Not Just Cosmetic
Hair thinning reflects inflammation, circulation, and follicle health. Treating the scalp matters.
“For women losing hair, if we use a stem cell treatment combining with micro needling on the scalp, you can actually make the area grow back with hair after two treatments with the micro needling on the scalp.”
Twenty Years in the United States
Dr. Yi did not start in Colombia. Her medical foundation was built in the US.
“So I of course I stayed in United States for 20 years before I actually had the chance of visiting Colombia.”
Why Colombia Felt Different
Environment affects recovery. Nervous system. Inflammation. Balance.
“I just felt the energy here, the weather, the greenery all over places are so attractive to me.”
Balance Before Treatment
Healing depends on regulation. Not force.
“I feel my body is in better balance when I’m here.”
From Retreat to Medical Care
The retreat came first. Clinical work followed.
“I decided to buy this place it originally to be a retreat center because I feel the energy helps the mind and body.”
When Stem Cell Work Began
This was not early hype. It was timing and access.
“So I started doing stem cell in 2021 because I was introduced to this lab in Colombia that they grow stem cells.”
Why Patients Travel
This is about dosing. Cell counts. Protocol flexibility.
“Your target is people from abroad and they come here they do the stem cell and at the same time they just enjoy Colombia.”

0:00 Introduction to Stem Cell Benefits
Valeria: The successful treatment story would be a lot of a joint issues related to aging, osteoarthritis. For people like you, younger women are more like a facial treatment, acne scars and TMJ. For women losing hair, if we use a stem cell treatment combining with micro needling on the scalp, you can actually make the area grow back with hair after two treatments with the micro needling on the scalp.
0:39 Journey to Colombia
Dr. Yi: Hi Valeria. So glad to have you here today.
Valeria: Hi G. I’m very happy to be here. very excited because you’re the first ever Chinese person that I can get to talk to in Colombia. So yeah, I’m very curious about how you got here. So I of course I stayed in United States for 20 years before I actually had the chance of visiting Colombia and I never had any pre-perception like a lot of Americans have about Colombia. I basically just like traveling to different countries and got involved in this group investing in agriculture in Colombia. So they organized this trip and then I thought okay I want to go and see check it out. Even though Colombia was never on my bucket list to visit. Then I came I just felt the energy here, the weather, the greenery all over places are so attractive to me and also for whatever reason I think the energy here lifts my body’s energy and I feel more relaxed. I feel my body is in better balance when I’m here. So that’s how I decided I want to buy a place here and eventually I want to retire here.
1:54 Transitioning to Stem Cell Therapy
Dr. Yi: Wow, that’s very cool. And but I’m curious of how you end up like you were an agriculture investor but now you’re doing a stem cells and you have like a great place here. So how do you end like how did you switch from agriculture to now doing a stem cell?
Valeria: Okay. So I’m not myself like I’m not like a investor actively looking for investment. I basically because I belong to this group and they say doing agricultural investment in Colombia is a great opportunity and an alternative investment for your money because Colombia is free from a lot of natural disasters like hurricane. Actually Colombia does have flood but maybe earthquake not that much a little bit but not that severe. So they say in Colombia there are very few natural disasters that can affect the agriculture and also Colombia at the time when I visited the president at that time just signed the peace treaty with FARC. So they say they’re it’s opening up more opportunity for development and for any investor you know when you get in something early you actually get better returns.
Dr. Yi: Yes for sure.
Valeria: So because I really like the energy and the culture here. So I decided to buy this place it originally to be a retreat center because I feel the energy helps the mind and body. And then that’s how I got introduced in stem cell later on then I thought since I already have this place here I can use the place for stem cell treatment as well and also the energy here can help people recover and heal better even after stem cell treatment.
4:12 Establishing the Retirement Community
Dr. Yi: When exactly you started to do stem cells here? Is something very new as well in Colombia so your target is people from abroad and they come here they do the sound cell and at the same time they just enjoy Colombia or what is?
Valeria: So I started doing stem cell in 2021 because I was introduced to this lab in Colombia that they grow stem cells and they told me you can treat more conditions in Colombia outside of the United States then you’re able to do things in the United States. So that’s why and since I already have the retreat here, so I think it’s a very good combination for people to age with more energy and vitality. And also I originally wanted to retire here. So it’s also a great idea to attract more people to come here to enjoy the retirement without worrying about financial burden because the standard of living here is very good with much less cost than what it costs to retire in the United States. So that’s why eventually I want this place to be a retirement community with holistic aging treatment.
5:33 Conditions and Successful Cases
Dr. Yi: Can you tell us about like a successful study that you have done for a patient or what special treatments have you treat here?
Valeria: So I would say the successful treatment story would be a lot of a joint issues related to aging, osteoarthritis and also for people with long-term COPD, bronchitis and also Parkinson’s, autoimmune, multiple sclerosis and for people like you younger women are more like facial show treatment, acne scars, and TMJ.
6:29 Treating TMJ with Stem Cells
Dr. Yi: Yes, I’m very curious about the TMJ because I was speaking with you before we started the podcast and I really suffer from my TMG. So I want to know how this treatment can help this severe pain and how how many sections a person needs to do and what is how long yeah how often you need to do it.
Valeria: So if you have been suffering from TMJ for say 20 years or I don’t know how long, I’ve treated a woman who’s 27 years old and she’s already had TMJ maybe since she was a teenager. And she only had one treatment last year and she said her jaw pain is significantly reduced after the one treatment and she doesn’t get the headaches triggered from TMJ anymore. So I think for people who are younger because your joint has not been damaged for the long term and also you’re still relatively young then with one treatment I think it can the effect can last up to 3 to 5 years but of course TMJ is also related to stress to anxiety that’s why you clench the jaw so of course after the treatment when your jaw pain is not as bad and you don’t have the headaches, you still want to try to reduce your anxiety and stress so that you don’t keep clenching the jaw and then eventually it will still do damage to your jaw if you keep doing that.
Dr. Yi: Yes, I can relate to that. I usually I’m very stressed. So yeah, I would like to do this treatment with you because the the pain is is very severe. So if you tell me with one only one treatment I can get better I for sure I’m interested. And tell me a little bit about what you said the the acne like how severe needs to be the acne to do the stem cell treatment.
8:47 Acne Scars and Inflammation
Valeria: So the acne if you have active acne actually stem cell treatment can help to reduce the breakouts as well because again acne is hormone related when you’re younger but also it’s still a kind of inflammation. So stem cells are very good at reducing inflammation not just in older people with chronic inflammation but also in young people with some inflammation from hormone related acne. And also a lot of people in their 20s they’ve already had acne for 10 years since they’re a teenager and they got acne scars. So stem cells are superior in reducing scar tissue externally and internally but for acne scars is mostly for the appearance and people are very concerned about acne scars because there’s there are very few options to reduce the scars. So if you are able to reduce the active breakout of acne and also reduce the scar tissue with micro needling with stem cells then you won’t have continuous active inflammation from the acne to create more scar tissue and also the old scar tissue can heal as well. So that’s how we help with active acne breakouts and also scar tissue from the past acne breakouts.
10:17 Comparison to Dermatological Treatments
Dr. Yi: And what’s the differentiator where like when I go to the dermatologist and they send a peel you know like there is like very heavy treatments that the dermatologist send like with a lot of chemicals. So what’s the differentiator with stem cells treatment?
Valeria: So when you go to dermatologist they give you the Accutane that actually is very toxic to liver. So that’s why they monitor the liver level so that you don’t get liver damage. It works for some people to reduce their acne but it’s just a very harsh treatment for your body. You treated the acne but then you are damaging other parts in your body in the long run. So actually for treating active acne besides using the micro needling to reduce the active breakouts you can also use other like Chinese herbal medicine to regulate the hormone. So talking about regulating hormone, the stem cell treatment itself can help the ovaries can help your hormone balance as well. Then at the same time if you combine with dietary and other treatments together then you can actually stop the active breakouts in acne.
12:00 Hormone Balance and IVF Support
Dr. Yi: Yeah that’s great. And tell me also because I’m very curious about the a period of pain that we suffer every month like how do you help woman with with that?
Valeria: So if you have menstrual pain it’s also mostly for most women it’s hormone related and some people they just get on birth control pill to regulate that pain so that or they just take pills not getting the period which is very unnatural for women and I believe it’s very bad for the body’s balance because anything against the natural cycle is bad in my opinion. So with stem cell treatment mostly we use it for people with polycystic ovary that makes the menstruation very irregular or sometime they don’t even get menstrual cycles or people in your age who want to get pregnant then because of various hormone issues they have great difficulty getting pregnant. Of course nowadays we have invitro fertilization which a lot of people resort to but again that is to do that you need to use a lot of hormones to stimulate your ovary to produce huge amount of eggs and for some people actually it creates more side effects for them. And even for people who are able to go through that, some women they still have trouble getting pregnant because eventually you still need to transfer the embryo into the uterus and then if your body doesn’t have the right environment for the embryo to grow then many people also failed IVF cycles 10 times. So for that kind of case sometimes you do want to seek alternative natural therapies and in this kind of case combining stem cell therapy with other treatment natural therapies can actually help the enhance the chance of getting pregnant. Also, if you choose to do the IVF, you can still use stem cell treatment combining with other natural treatment to enhance the successful rate of IVF.
14:27 Hair Loss Solutions
Dr. Yi: So yeah, overall we can say these treatments with the stem cell are very natural and friendly with your body. And I’m also curious about the hair like people who’s losing their hair like what how the stem cells can help with that. So are you talking about women or men or?
Valeria: It can be with both. Because in women who lose hair actually it’s mostly related to thyroid level and also female hormones. And for men losing hair, most of them are either genetic or they have testosterone affecting the follicle growth. For women losing hair, actually if we use a stem cell treatment combining with micro needling on the scalp, if you just have a small patch of hair loss, then you can actually make the area grow back with hair after two treatments with the micro needling on the scalp. But of course, for hair to grow, it usually takes six months. So after the treatment, you actually need to wait for three to six months to see the area regrowing back and then you can if you still need more stimulation in the hair follicles and you can do a second treatment. But for guys, actually you need to combine with the treatment there are actually some very good pharmaceutical treatment for guys with hair loss to block the androgen receptor on the follicle so that they but that has to be done before you are completely bald. Some people they waited too long because if you wait it too long your follicles are already dead and then the only option for you has to do the hair transplant then you have to maintain it. So for people who start just starting like in their 30s starting having thinning of hair if you use the stem cell with micro needling on the scalp in men then you can actually prevent the further loss in the hair.
16:51 Micro Needling Process Explained
Dr. Yi: So stem cells and micro needling like how does that work like?
Valeria: So micro needling is now something new. It has been around for 20 years. It’s a kind of pen that is battery operated or connected to power. So, it can vibrate at high frequency and then you attach needles at the end. And then that type of needles can be thicker or thinner depending on the area you’re working on. Also, everybody’s skin is different. For people with thinner skins or tend to bleed a lot then you have to use thinner needles. And the needle either like 12 needle or 36 or 42 needles and also even nano needles. So then when you have this kind of vibration you create this micro injury in the skin or in the scalp where you’re doing it. And at the same time when we apply the stem cell solution with your plate rich plasma when the micro injury is induced then the stem cell with the plate rich plasma penetrates deep into the subcutaneous layer of your skin or scalp. That’s where the fiberblast or follicles are. So then these stem cells and platelet rich plasma can stimulate your fibroblast to regenerate the skin cells or to regenerate the hair.
18:35 Skin Regeneration and Anti-Aging
Dr. Yi: Okay. But this is only for the hair treatment or you do that with other treatment like?
Valeria: So micro needling can be used for both face and scalp. So it can be used for both skin and the hair loss. So, it’s the same kind of principle. You use the micro needling to create micro injuries in the skin. And then at the same time, you apply the stem cell solution combined with your plate rich plasma. Then they penetrate deeper into the subcutaneous layer where you create the micro injury with the micro needling. Then these stem cells and plate rich plasma will stimulate the fiberblast in the subcutaneous layer to regrow the regenerate the skin cells. So for people who are older they you start to lose elasticity in the skin and also the collagen is getting thinner. That’s why you get more wrinkles. And if you do micro needling with stem cells more frequently when you get older, you can actually slow down the development of deeper wrinkles and also reduce the fine lines. So it’s like a more natural alternative to Botox and other type of cosmetic treatment.
20:00 Tattoo and Scar Removal
Dr. Yi: Since you’re explaining this, I’m curious. This also helps with tattoos like people who who has a tattoo and so do you want to like get rid of the tattoo?
Valeria: Yes. If they want to get like a tattoo removal. So for tattoo and tattoo removal basically after you remove the tattoo the area the skin is irritated and they the skin’s natural reaction to form scar tissue to react to this kind of trauma. So the scar tissue for some people it will be permanent there for them. So they would like the area to look more normal blend into the surrounding skin area. So in that kind of case actually for the stem cell it’s with micro needling is a solution to reduce the scar tissue just like reducing the scar tissue in acne or any other kind kind of scar tissue from injuries.
21:16 Holistic Health and Cancer Cautions
Dr. Yi: Wow, that that’s very cool. Like I feel this treatment of stem cells is very general for whatever you you want to do like what you can do with the stem cells.
Valeria: I think for most cases, stem cells are excellent treatment for anybody seeking holistic treatment, anti-aging treatment or just generally wanting to have a healthier life without using any chemical or pharmaceutical drugs or even surgeries. So it is a very general can be applied to many many conditions. I think the only caution using stem cell is when people have active cancer because stem cells themselves stimulate your body stem cell to divide and active cancer cells are also rapidly dividing cells. There’s a little bit of controversial results in how stem cells can help cancer patients. If you have active cancer, you may want to first get into remission before you consider stem cell treatment because it’s not conclusive at this time whether stem cells can induce more cancer growth or actually inhibit cancer growth. But a lot of research has suggested that stem cell eventually actually can reduce the cancer growth because stem cells are regulating your immune system. So for a healthy person, you constantly produce cancer cells in your body because your cells are mutating due to environmental exposure and your body’s immune system can detect it and remove them efficiently. But cancer only develop when your body’s immune system cannot effectively remove the cancer cells in time. Then they escape your immune system and start developing over time to grow into tumor. So it’s very important that before you even develop any active cancer, if you do stem cell treatment regularly, it actually can help your immune system a lot. Then your body’s immune system can detect and remove any bad cells in your body more efficiently. Then you will not develop cancer.
23:40 Treating Autism and Inflammation
Dr. Yi: And it can be applied to any ages.
Valeria: Yes, actually stem cell treatment can be used in kids too with autism or epilepsy. In these conditions it’s not very clearly studied yet but autism some people think is caused by inflammation in the brain that’s causing the certain neurotransmission in the brain not established correctly. That’s why the kids will have certain behavioral disturbances. Because of that stem cells are very good at reducing inflammation. So that’s why they think using stem cells to treat kids with autism can reduce the inflammation in their brain and alter their behavior for the better.
24:47 C-Section and Lipo Scars
Dr. Yi: That’s great. So this can help with woman scar tissue.
Valeria: Yes. A lot of women they had C-section and then they would have a long scar tissue related to C-section or some women they want to do liposuction to reduce the size of their waist and they would have scar tissue as well including one person I treated two years ago. She had liposuction and then around the liposuction area she had very hard tissue developing because of the liposuction. And we basically use the stem cell to inject into the area that she has very hard tissue developed after liposuction and they can soften the area.
25:42 Sessions and Keloid Reduction
Dr. Yi: Wow. And how many sections she got? And and she got like that got fully removed.
Valeria: I would not say it’s fully removed, but I think if you really want it to be fully removed, you need two or three sessions. But she only did one session. So it reduce the size of the heart tissue. It’s more like a kind of keloid because when your skin have some kind of damage then your skin natural reaction is to form keloid. So when you have that kind of hard tissue surrounding the area where you had the procedure, it’s also a type of keloid reaction. So it can reduce the size and the hardness of the keloid.
26:39 Contact and Consultations
Dr. Yi: Yeah. I guess she only had to do one and she was happy with it. Yes. Well, I’m I’m very glad to be here and and get to know this treatment because I didn’t know about that and I really really want to do that for myself. But how other people can contact you?
Valeria: So they can visit my website stemcelltherapyexperts.com and they can get in contact with us by phone, by email. Then we will contact them looking asking them questions to see what they’re looking for help with. Then we can do the consultation from there. Then we determine whether stem cell treatment will be suitable for their conditions.
